Last July, I went on a road trip with my parents. We went from Illinois to Colorado and back. As you can tell, we took the "scenic" route...

This is the chapel at the US Air Force Academy. I absolutely love the architecture of it! Doesn't it remind you of an airplane?

I believe that this was taken in Rocky Mountain National Park. The scenery gives a new definition to the phrase "purple mountain majesties," which is a line from "America the Beautiful."

This is one of the walls/windows in the Air Force Academy Chaple. Isn't it pretty? I really like how the colors blend together. (It looks much better in real life.)

The narrows of Rocky Mountain national Park.

The road we took through Rocky Mountain National Park.

This is the SR-71 Blackbird. It's in the Strategic Air Comand Museum in Nebraska.

These are some of the baby bears that are at Bear Country USA in South Dakota. (Aren't they adorable?)

This is one of the rocks that you drive through in Garden of the Gods. It is a truely beautiful place, with very unique rock outcroppings.

Along the road through Rocky Mountain National Park, and up the mountains.

I think this is a picture of Long's Peak, in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Look at these pretties, some big horn sheep in their natural environment.

airforceacademychaple.jpg

The bluff area of Rocky Mountain National Park. There isn't any air on the planet cleaner than it is here! What a view!

pikespeak.jpg

This is either from Red Rocks, Garden of the Gods or the Badlands. I really like the scenery out west.

airforceacademychaple.jpg

This is one of my favorite pictures from the trip. It was taken in a cave type thingy underneath Mount Rushmore, isn't the view just great?

airforceacademychaple.jpg

This is the map at the entrance to Pike's Peak. It details the route up to the summit.

Minute Man 2 missile in silo, at Elsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota.

The Needles rock formations, along the trail in Custer National Park, in South Dakota.

airforceacademychaple.jpg

This is the train that goes to the summit of Pike's Peak. Gotta love the scenery!

This is a plaque that contains the song lyrics of "America the Beautiful." It was written by a young girl on her way across the Rocky Mountains by wagon train (riding in a covered wagon.) At least, I think that's how the story goes.

I may put up a few more pictures from the trip. I haven't decided yet. I have over a hundred digital photos to choose from, so bare with me if I don't do that for a while...
